Grace Co-operative Credit Union Education Grant Awards Ceremony 2024

Grace Co-op Credit Union Limited (GCCU) hosted its Annual Education Grant Awards ceremony on Thursday September 05, 2024, in the GraceKennedy Multifunction room at 73 Harbour Street, Kingston. An aggregate of Four Hundred and Twenty Thousand Dollars ($420,000) was awarded to thirteen (13) scholars who performed exceptionally well in the PEP, CSEC, CAPE examinations and maintained a high GPA during the academic year 2023/2024. In addition to academic performance, the awardees were also selected based on their participation in extracurricular activities, conduct, attitude, punctuality and attendance.

The President of the Board of Directors, Mr. Samuel Shelton, welcomed everyone and congratulated the awardees and their parents on their outstanding performances. He mentioned that education is a lifelong journey that goes beyond academics and that their character and adaptability will shape their future success. Mr. Shelton encouraged the Awardees to dream big, pursue their goals with passion, and use this opportunity to explore new possibilities and to make a difference.

The Guest speaker and CEO of Grace and Staff Community Development Foundation, Miss Sandrina Davis, spoke about the three (3) key ingredients when studying. These are discipline, consistency and resilience. Discipline is the ability to stay focus and manage your time effectively, adhering to a study plan and resisting distractions. Consistency is regularly dedicating time to study, ensuring steady progress and reinforcing learning through repeated effort. Resilience is the capacity to overcome challenges, setbacks, and obstacles, maintaining motivation and adapting strategies as needed. Together, these three (3) ingredients create a strong foundation for effective studying and achieving academic success.

The Acting General Manager, Miss Camille Cadogan also congratulated the Awardees and encouraged them to continue to do well, avoid procrastination, and they will continue to reap the benefits of their hard work.
